Air Quality Matters

As you guys know, I've been on a journey to improve my quality of life and focus on my health. I've done a lot of health research lately, started Plexus, focused on what foods I put in my body, and tried to drink more water and take walks every day. Even though I'm an active mom and always on the go, sometimes it helps to be more mindful of my decisions throughout the day instead of "winging it."

I'm learning so much and am so excited to partner with Aire Serv this month to bring you guys some helpful information as we walk into this beautiful Fall season.

Even though we all love being outside, breathing in the fresh air, doing campfires with friends, or just letting the kids run around and let some energy out, the truth is that we spend SO much of our lives inside. Whether that is sleeping, cleaning, working, eating, or doing laundry, we are inside a lot!

Unfortunately, inside air can be 5-100x more polluted than outdoor air!

October is Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) awareness month and I have teamed up with the experts over at Aire Serv to help you freshen up your home's IAQ! Below are some extremely helpful tips that you may or may not already be doing to bring less pollution, toxins, and chemicals into your homes.

Let's talk cleaning first.

All those cleaning supplies you use? Let's double-check the ingredients and make sure we're using natural all purpose cleaners. Your lungs and kids will thank you.

Essential oils. There, I said it. Make sure and get the good essential oils versus the fragrancy ones because you don't want to be diffusing more chemicals into your home. Essential oils offer safe and effective alternative to chemical air fresheners. Bye, Febreze! Buy a fun diffuser instead, add a few drops of your favorites, and let that fill your home.

While we're on the topic of scents...did you know wax candles can actually be releasing carcinogenic toxins into the air? Fortunately, soy wax candles are a non-toxic, chemical-free way to fill your home with your favorite scents, while setting the mood this fall and winter season. I know....kind of depressing. But as you slowly make these changes, I think you'll be happier to know you and your family are breathing better air.

Last thing I wanted to mention, besides just buying a air purifier for your home, is to bring some plants inside! Instead of getting fake plants (which I still love), try planting some daisies in a small planter and put it in your kitchen! I suggest daisies because, in addition to carbon dioxide, they can also absorb other gases, including a long list of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). I did NOT know that. I love daisies and so does Kathleen Kelly from You've Got Mail so let's add some to our lives!

I hope these were a few helpful tips for you guys! But wait! There's a huge contest that you can enter and win over $1200 worth of free filters and products to help your Indoor Air Quality !!! See info below!
