Boys' Bedroom Makeover!

I am SO excited about this post! Usually, I write to mamas from the heart or share with you a really cool product. But, today is a before and after and I'd have to say that this type of post is trumping what I usually do. I don't know what it is, but before and afters are SO MUCH FUN! I could scroll through before and afters all day long.As some of you know, we are renting in a not so great area in Denver, Colorado. My husband is in medical school and I do the SAHM thing and blogging thing. We can't afford to buy, so we rent an old brick 1400 square foot home. Right now, this is enough. When we first moved in, we had an almost 2 year old and I just had Reid (our middle child). So our little 3 bedroom was perfect. Plus we thought we'd be moving after medical school. Well...now with Nate making us a family of 5, and the Denver program looking good, there's a chance we might stay. Because of that fact, I decided to FINALLY redo some areas. Some of you may have seen me post this Instagram picture of our plastic bin disaster. There are just areas like that around our house that I didn't care about because I thought we'd be moving. We never have guests stay with us, and we have 3 little boys so I've accepted it'll be messy. We also have carpet and it's crowded. Now that there's a slight chance of us staying, I really wanted to change the boys bedroom. I wanted to make it as cute and clean as I could so that we all enjoy being in there. Since our house is so small, it's great to have every room (besides the master) be a place where the kids feel like they can play. With the help of some amazing companies, we finally redid the boys room!!!As you can see with the before, Reid was sleeping on his mattress in his crib, and Wesley was on the floor with a Lightning McQueen bed we got off Amazon on Prime Day for cheap. Again, it was all we could afford so this is the room they got! My parents moved and gave us the bookshelf and the slip cover for the chair (that I had in middle school) was actually a dark brown. I found this one on Amazon for suuuuper cheap and love it! It's a great way to switch up the colors in your room.I also bought this zip up bag on Amazon to contain all the kids stuffed animals. Remember seeing people hang nets in the corners of a kid's room for all their stuffed animals back in the 80's? Yeah, not happening. Also our house has plaster walls, which means we can't hang anything with a nail so a net wouldn't be possible. Good thing.I have a green light alarm clock for the kids that I've been asked about by a ton of you, and I have a humidifier and our favorite sound machine. The alarm clock turns green when your kids are allowed out of bed! Go get one!Next, we have this cute teepee from Little Dove on Amazon, a road rug, and an on-sale chevron rug from Target from around 4 years ago (similar one here). Now for my favorite section.....the beds, their Beddy's zip up sets, and my new favorite sign from Vintage Owls Signs! These toddler beds are from Ameriwood and they were so easy to put together! Again, because of our financial situation, we didn't want to upgrade and buy twin beds and mattresses. I also think my boys are too young for a bunkbed, and it would have been really hard to fit bigger beds in this room. These toddler beds were the perfect size. I went with a nice neutral gray and wanted them to match as much as possible. We all know siblings always want what the other one has.Next up are their Beddy's zip up sets! You guys, if you have never heard of these, do yourself a favor and go to their website and get one...or five! They are for everyone! You throw the entire thing over your mattress and it becomes a fitted sheet, a blanket, and a comforter all in one that you zip up! Do you know how much this has saved me with little kids who pee out, have bloody noses, and are just dirty in general? I was washing their sheets and covers like crazy. Beddy's saved me!Side note: Before Beddy's, I literally had a crib sheet for the boys, a massive sheet that I had to fold, and a random blanket of some sorts on their bed. Talk about a disaster.Lastly, I think what really ties in this cute little room for the boys is this sign. "I love you. For the boys you are. The men that you will become. And the precious sons you will always be." Now I'm crying. I love Allie's Etsy shop and all her beautiful heartfelt signs. She is truly a gem and a fellow boy mama :)I rearranged some things and tried to make it more cohesive and boyish. I could have done a lot more, and will probably add a few things here and there, but we're so happy with how it turned out! The boys absolutely love it and like showing all new guests their "cool room."
