Just One More

It's a Monday morning and not just any Monday morning. It's the kind of morning where you wake up already exhausted and can't believe you have a full week ahead packed with doctors appointments, play dates, and errands. Did we even have a weekend?

I was in the middle of a load of laundry this morning with a hungry 6-month-old, a 2-year-old sitting on the potty in one bathroom, and my 4-year-old sitting on the potty in the other, as my husband was about to head out the door for work. He turned to me and said, "Enjoy the boys today. I know they're stinkers, but they are so sweet. Enjoy being with them today."

Wisdom.

You see, if you've joined me here on my blog or on Instagram, you'd know that my husband is gone a lot because he is in his final year of medical school. When he had Saturday off, he cherished the time he had with me and his 3 boys. We swam, he made lunches, read books, and built towers. He loves his boys more than anything and I couldn't be more grateful. But when Monday morning rolls around, I wish he was home for just one more day, or the whole week, and he wishes he was home longer, too. It's hard for him to leave every morning...something that I, as a SAHM, don't feel....ever.I read a book with the kids that's called "Just One More." It's about a little girl that always wants more and in the end, realizes she should be content with just one. Sometimes as I read the book, I feel like it's the story of my life as a grown woman. I LIVE for the "just one more" moments, countdowns, and conversations.I wish I had just one more day off with my husband at home.Just one more day until the weekend!Just one more hour until nap time.Just one more hour until bed time.Just one more month until our family vacation!Just one more year until medical school is over.Just one more collaboration until I can pay for preschool.

There are also the sweetest "just one more" moments that my kids live for and, ultimately, these make me love motherhood so much more.

Just one more kiss before bed.Let's have just one more baby.Just one more hug before we go.Just one more bite of dessert.Just one more book before nap.Just one more push on the swing.Let's stay in bed just one more minute.Just one more minute in the bath.Just one more minute chasing you.Just one more show.Just one more minute to snuggle.Just one more hour at the park.Just one more game before we go.These moments and quick minutes and hours that pass where we allow our kids "just one more" are what keep me going. The countdowns until vacation, bed times and something new in life will always be exciting.  I think that as moms, we need something to look forward to, something to work towards, and something to dream about. If we don't, we get caught up in the hard patches of life and forget to live in the moment. So carry on mamas, strive forward, and enjoy just one more of whatever you need today.
