Favorite Spaces

With everything that is going on in our life, I'm soooooo thankful I took the time to make our new house a H O M E. I took a short video of the interior of the house when we first bought it and must have watched it a million times while trying to plan everything out. It's hard planning from a distance but it worked. It's so fun to see it all come together! Thanks to Dorel Living, we can truly say we LOVE our home.

Beautiful living room decor

Of course, if you have kids, you set up their rooms right away to keep them comfortable. We did just move across the country and put them all in their own rooms for the first time, so that was very important to us. However, I was more excited to make our own living space the way I wanted. After all, we'll be spending most of our time downstairs.

I've always had mixed taste (ie., I don't do everything "modern" or everything "rustic"). I've always pulled styles and combined my favorites. In this case, with only having the short video to go off of, it was a little hard as I made some purchases and tried to put it all together in my mind. Aiming for a contemporary - scandinavian - with a dose of shabby chic living room, I think we pulled it off!

I bring you my two favorite spaces with Dorel Living: the living room and dining room!

living room design with dorel living bookshelf

Initially, I planned to put the bookshelf upstairs in my office. But, when we put it together downstairs and left it in the corner, we loved it! Because our TV hangs above our mantel, we needed a place to put our DVD player and internet router anyways. I think it was the best addition to the space and really helped complete the room. What I love most about a bookshelf is that I can switch up the decor on the shelves and quickly make the room feel completely different!

This bookshelf is beautifully designed and matches the brass accents in our coffee table perfectly, which I think helps the room flow and feel more peaceful. The top is faux marble so it looks beautiful AND doesn't hurt your wallet! And now that the boys have a playroom, the space feels more like mine than theirs. Although, they still love playing cars on the coffee table. :)

classic grey end table chairs

As we move over into the dining room, you'll find our adorable table combined with two of our new, favorite end chairs. Honestly, seeing the end product was literally a dream! It's not huge like our old table, and it fits perfectly in this space. It's sturdy and cute, which in my opinion is the best combination...especially when you have kids.

Also, I detest clutter. When decorating, I love adding some greenery and simple touches to create a clean, minimalist space. Kitchens and dining rooms can become so messy throughout the day with kids, so I wanted these spaces to be calming and feel organized. I am very content with the final product!

I'd love to hear your favorite spaces in your home!
